Your first figure.
Graph Studio web beta creates line, scatter, grouped-bar and one-to-four-panel figures locally in your browser. The fatigue calculator and engineering unit converter remain separate tools.
1. Bring a table
Choose Import data for CSV, TSV, TXT, XLSX or XLS files, or Paste table for cells copied from Excel. Check the preview before adding tables. The first row can contain column names. Use a tab or semicolon separator with decimal commas. Thousands separators are not supported. Choose files or pasted text, not both.
Each Excel worksheet becomes a separate table. Formulas and macros are never recalculated or run. Formula cells use the last saved cached value, which may be missing or outdated. Open and recalculate the workbook in Excel before importing when necessary.
2. Map each panel
Choose Single, A–B or A–D layout. Select a panel, select its data source, then choose X and up to five Y columns. Tables remain independent. Selecting a table in the project list only opens it for inspection; it does not silently assign it to a panel.
3. Inspect and edit
Open Data worksheet under the figure. Edit a cell, rename columns, add or delete rows and columns, or sort whole rows. The row search only filters the table view, not the plot. Use row checkboxes for multiple deletion. Undo and redo cover table, figure and annotation edits; history is bounded to protect memory.
4. Show uncertainty honestly
An error column supplies symmetric ± values, without computing SD, SEM or confidence intervals. Choose the correct meaning. For a confidence interval supply its half-width. If several Y series are selected, they share that error column. Separate panels are needed for independently mapped error columns in this beta.
Missing and invalid values are excluded, never changed into zero. Lines break at excluded rows. Log scales exclude non-positive values. Bar plots use a linear Y axis and supplied categorical X labels. Review Figure checks for exclusions and stale mappings.
5. Choose colors and style
The visible Colors & style button opens seven palettes with a live figure preview. Spectrum is the default; Okabe–Ito uses a reordered subset of the Color Universal Design palette. Ocean, Ember, Botanical and Alkoc classic are editorial palettes, not guarantees of color-vision accessibility. Monochrome preserves distinctions using shapes, dashes and grouped-bar hatching.
Automatic colors can be shared across the figure so different source columns do not always start with the same color. Repeated source columns keep the same automatic color. Open the individual-series section for a custom color, legend name, marker, filled/hollow style and line pattern/width. Custom colors persist across palette changes; Auto returns one series to the palette. Monochrome temporarily overrides all custom colors. Reset panel style affects only the active panel. Single-series bars can color each X category; X labels remain the category identifier. Palettes repeat if there are more series/categories than colors.
Line plots show at most 120 markers per series, but all valid data points remain in the line; scatter plots display every valid point. Hover over visible points/bars for values. These controls do not fit, smooth or alter measurements. Use Undo to reverse edits.
6. Export and save
Export controls physical width, height and font size. SVG retains editable text; PNG supports 300 or 600 DPI with physical-resolution metadata. Print / Save PDF uses the browser print dialog, not a dedicated PDF generator. Choose 100% scale, no margins and no headers/footers; verify the PDF page size and clipping yourself.
Save project downloads an .alkoc.json file containing your data and settings. Open project restores it. This format is separate from desktop .gpj/.myopj files. No persistent autosave is enabled. Closing the tab can lose unsaved work; keep your project downloads.
Limits and scope
- Data files: up to 5 MB each. Web project files: up to 20 MB.
- Up to 12 tables, 10,000 data rows, 50 columns, 100,000 cells per table and 200,000 cells per project.
- Cell text: at most 300 characters. Up to five Y series per panel and 40 annotations.
- PNG: at most 22 megapixels. Use SVG for larger vector figures.
- No statistical tests, curve fitting, regression, 3D, asymmetric errors, collaboration, cloud sync or desktop-project compatibility.
- Processing is local after loading; reopening the application requires a connection. This release does not install an offline application.
- Modern browsers with JavaScript, modules, Web Workers and structuredClone are required. Use a desktop screen for detailed editing.
No output guarantees publication acceptance. Confirm your target journal’s current requirements, data validity, labels, uncertainty, text and final physical size.
