From cutting speed to machine settings.

Calculate spindle speed and table feed together, with an optional machine rpm limit.

01 · Your inputs

You supply the cutting parameters. Example values are not a cutting recommendation for any material, tool or machine.

Number of effective cutting teeth; a whole number.

Machine limit (optional)

Leave blank for no cap. Applied speed and feed are reduced together when the limit is active.

Decimal point or comma and scientific notation accepted. No thousands separators. Results update as you type.

Understand the calculation

Formula & assumptions
Spindle speed n = 1000 vc / (π D)
Applied n = minimum(theoretical n, optional spindle limit)
Actual vc = π D n / 1000
Table feed vf = fz × z × applied n

Feed per tooth remains the specified value when the rpm cap is active. The result displays both the theoretical and applied spindle speeds so a machine limit never silently changes the intended cutting speed.

    Sources & limitations

Use effective cutting diameter for your engagement, especially with ball-nose or round-insert tools. This simplified calculation omits chip thinning, tool deflection, available power and workholding checks.
